• Import Pst File To Windows 10 Mail

I have a new Windows 10 pc., with Windows mail set sup as the new email client.

I have an Outlook 2007 .pst file from my old (dead) pc saved on my local network.

I want the old emails from the Outlook 2007 .pst file imported into the Windows 10 pc.

From what I've read (including a post on this forum), I see there is no 'native' way to do this, and I need a 3rd party app to export from the .pst. Ok, so I have looked, and I've seen apps that will (supposedly) export my emails from the .pst file into .eml, or .msg format.

I'm used to moving .pst files around in computers; usually it's to combine files into a folder that will be backed up.
The process that works well for me is this:
- close Outlook
- move the .pst file
- open Outlook; it will say that it can't find the file and provide an Browse interface.
- browse to the new location of the file and tag it.
- Outlook will say that it needs to be closed and restarted. Do that.
- Now everything is fine.
You may also need to tell Outlook where to store incoming mail by changing the folder so identified.
I did this today on a Windows 10 system using Outlook 2010 and it didn't work.
The message alluded to that the file could not be accessed.
It wasn't possible to change the incoming mail folder at all. It remained unspecified.
I also tried going to Control Panel / Mail to change the DataFile location.
Same problem.
