Patch 1.13c A new Mystery has been revealed! - Adventurers of Sanctuary are hereby warned once again, that a new challenge awaits you. Within Diablo's Bosses, spanning across the world from the ancient Monastery Catacombs to the Throne of Destruction.
Blizzard rolled out a new update for Diablo 2 this week, bringing the action role-playing game to version 1.14a. It's the first software update the game has received since 2011, and it improves Diablo 2's compatibility with modern operating systems.
Also included in the update, according to Blizzard, is 'a shiny new installer for OSX.'
Blizzard notes in a post on the Battle.net forums that it isn't done supporting and updating Diablo 2, which was originally released in 2000.
We've also begun working to improve our cheat-detection and hack-prevention capabilities. There's still work to be done, but we're making improvements every day.

This week's update for Diablo 2 is apparently part of the developer's initiative to restore some of Blizzard's legacy games to their original glory. Last year, the developer put out the call for engineers to help bring Diablo 2, Warcraft 3 and the original StarCraft up to date on modern computing platforms.
'Evolving operating systems, hardware, and online services have made them more difficult to be experienced by their loyal followers or reaching a new generation,' a job description for a senior software engineer read. 'We're restoring them to glory, and we need your engineering talents, your passion, and your ability to get tough jobs done.'

Is it possible to patch down the game?
I’m working on multiple installations, and annoyingly even though I will initially install 1.12 or 1.13d or whatever, when I run the version it patched up to 1.14 making things like plugy not work. I know you can patch the game by downloading the patch files, copy-pasting and replacing into the diablo folder itself, will that work if taking a more up to date game and moving it back? Do I need to completely uninstall and reinstall if my game gets updated to 1.14 and I need it in 1.13d?
